A quality grinder will help make the most of your stained glass projects.  Not only does it provide a great finished surface for foil to adhere, it aids in varying the shape of the glass to make more professional fit in the completed piece.  However, before you consider purchasing a grinder, a certain level of respect should be given to this powerful piece of machinery.

If you are in the market for a stained glass grinder, there are two basic sizes to consider.  A large machine is designed for pieces that will fit on a 12” x 11” surface, while a medium unit has a 10” x 9” work area.  In addition, there are a variety of add-on pieces, including larger work surfaces and specialty bits, to provide different finishing options when using your grinder.  The type of stained glass projects you plan to create will dictate the variety and number of bits needed.
